KidsEcon Posters©

OCEE and the Indiana Council on Economic Education have partnered to promote economics through children’s literature, using KidsEcon Posters©.  These colorful posters feature individual economic concepts along with mini-lessons and suggested readings in the form of children’s storybooks.  This approach allows economics to “come alive” through “real-life” examples young children can understand and appreciate.  The majority of these concepts are included in the PASS requirements for elementary social studies.

KidsEcon Posters© are available in two sets of 11 ($22 per set, or $39 for the full set) covering topics such as human capital, profit, savings, investing, and opportunity cost.  Corresponding literature includes popular children’s books such as The Giving Tree and Alexander, Who Was Rich Last Sunday.  Each poster and set of books contains characters of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, which generates greater appreciation for diversity and multiplicity.  Teaching economics through children’s literature is a fun, innovative means of allowing students to participate in the learning process and teaches valuable life skills.

Call OCEE at (405) 974-5343 for more information or visit www.kidseconposters.com to order a set for your classroom.  Be sure to select “Oklahoma” on the drop-down box before you order!
